Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
